Dogs in Hot Cars

The warm weather has arrived and I know some people like taking their dogs out for a ride on a warm day and leave them in the car with the window cracked while you go shopping. This is Huge “No No”! Please leave your pet at home!

Do you know it just takes a minute on a 78-degree day, the temperature inside a parked car can soar to between 100  to 120 degrees in just minutes, and on a 90-degree day, the interior temperature can reach as high as 160 degrees in less than 10 minutes.

Your pet can suffer brain damage or a heat stroke and die within 15 minutes or less.

Leaving a dog in a parked car with the windows cracked is a death trap for a dog because they overheat, sweat, excessive thirst, pant heavily, etc. Here is more information at this link

Children with paws don’t deserve to die because the pet parent is stupid and cruel.

I take this matter very seriously and when I am out and about do shopping I am always on the look out for animals left in cars. I do not hesitate to call the police and report this very serious crime and yes this is a “Crime”. Pet owners can be charged with cruelty and receive a hefty fine.  The police will come without hesitating because they take it very seriously too. In the event you do make a call to the police, you have to stay on the scene until the matter has been resolved.

We all need to take action to protect the animals, so please do your part in helping to protect and prevent dogs being left in hot cars. Be pro active make the call if you need to and save a life! Here is a link for a flyer you can print out and keep in your car to hand out when necessary.

I have flyers in my car and I am ready to start handing them out.

Be responsible, Be the voice for the animals, Be protective and Be pro active!

Car Games to Pass the Time

My husband and I were out and about today and we were sitting in traffic and he announces “punch buggy orange no return “with a punch to the arm. Wow I said, “I didn’t see that buggy” and sure enough I look behind me and there was the orange bug convertible.

We got to talking about the car games we all have played with friends and family.

Who remembers playing PaDiddle, License Plate and Punch Buggy game? There are real rules and a point system for these games. If you haven’t played them look them up online and start playing. It’s a great pass time for the kids and the family if you are traveling by car going on vacation.

This brought back memories of my late childhood and from time to time my husband and I play the punch buggy game but there are very few old buggies around and the new buggies don’t count.

Be creative and have fun!

What was your favorite car game? Leave a comment and let me know.

The Potato Chips

Here it is Saturday late morning and my husband and I had to stop for gas before heading to Hollis, New Hampshire for a visit. We arrive at the gas station to find long lines for gas, you might of thought there was a fuel shortage? We got our fuel and continued on our path to Hollis.

The skies were dark and it was thundering, then all of sudden I jumped a mile at the sight of a lightning strike. All within the matter of minutes the rains came, the sun started to shine and thunder clouds remained in the distance. I will hope for a rainbow but no sight of a rainbow. The sun disappeared and the sky became dark and grey with lightning strikes in the distance and the loud sounds of thunder roaring as we drive to Hollis.

Finally we arrive at our destination and of course the rains were heavy and lightning was near, now I am afraid to get out of the car. My husband gets out of the car and runs to the house and I am still sitting there just waiting for the right time. So, I just got out and ran because it was lightning.

Our visit was short, its time to leave and we still have pouring rains.  Only if we had just waited a couple more minutes before leaving because the sun started to shine we wouldn’t have gotten soaking wet from the rains.

Hollis is a quaint little town not too far from the city but tucked in just far enough away you might think it was Gods country. It a serene little town with local farms, orchards, and one of everything a small town would need.

We stopped at our favorite local farm for some fresh vegetables, snack and drinks for the ride home. We found the “best” kettle cooked potato chips they were rosemary & olive oil flavored potato chips. They were so delicious we ate more than half the bag and enjoyed our favorite sodas on the ride home.

The ride home was sure an interesting one, the weather changed again but this time it was worse. The sky opened up and the rains came pouring down, hadn’t heard anything like it in a long time, then it started hailing and it was pounding on the windshield and cars started slowing down to 40 mph. The highway looked as if someone had dropped all their marbles and the skies started to clear and there it was in the distance blue skies and sunshine ahead.

By the time we reached home you might of thought we had a passing shower. The ground was barely wet and the sun was shining.

A few rosemary & olive oil potato chips are left in the bag.
