Dear Neighbor,

I was wondering if it would be possible for you to stop slamming your apartment door? I find it extremely annoying since we live within one wall of each other. You may not know this but every time you slam your door coming and going, you scare the daylights out of me and you scare the cat too.

The last time you were over we conversed about what we could hear from our kitchen walls. The woman said, she never hears us and I said really?! She said well why? We hear you every time you close your door. The sound goes right through our apartment. I think I dropped more than the subtle hint. Yet she hasn’t caught on!

Oh yeah and your dog is cute and everything but do you think you can train him to stop barking. Every time you yell at your dog to stop barking we hear that too.

 Please get a clue because you are not the only one who lives here…

What’s in your soup?

About 2 weeks ago, I received a phone call from my husband while he was at work during his lunch hour. The phone conversation is the usual until he says we need to talk about something rather important and I said okay what’s up?

He says, Honey I found something in my soup! I said what did you find? It looks like a piece of foam. Foam?! I told him to bring home the can, lid, foam etc…I will need these items to make a phone call.

Well sure enough when he came home with his leftover soup…he shows me a piece of hard foam that was floating in his soup. I can’t even imagine what would have happened if he accidentally swallowed this piece of foreign material.

The next morning I called Progresso soup and spoke to them about a foreign object that was found in their soup.  I had to answer something like 20 questions to make my complaint over the phone.  So they wanted to send me coupons for free soup and I declined the coupons and told them I wouldn’t be purchasing their soup ever again and then the customer service person says then if you give me your address we will send you a check for $3.00 to replace the cost of your soup.  Well at least I will get my money back but it doesn’t give me a piece of mind knowing that the problem probably won’t be resolved. How do I know this because the customer service person said they have no way of knowing if Quality Control will even get the message. How does Progresso Soup run their business?

I wasn’t pleased with the outcome of this conversation. So I made a point to tell them that I will be calling the FDA and I would be blogging about this matter. Not a care in the world from Progresso. I guess when you make as much money as they do one can of soup doesn’t matter.

I am waiting for the FDA to return my call.

I spent some time searching on the internet for other instances that might have happened with Progresso Soup and I was a bit surprised that I found something like 5 other people who found a similar foreign object in their soups as well.

As of 2 weeks ago, I no longer will buy canned soup. At least if it’s homemade I know what’s in the soup!

Mad Craze Coming to an End

Lately we are hearing more and more news about the coupon extremists. I recently watched a story on the news last week about this very topic and I was in awe when I saw how much these people are saving. Really, are you saving that much because it looks like you all have come to endure an obsessive compulsive behavior over saving and hording food. You all need therapy just to get yourselves back in control!

So in this story I saw garages, closets and rooms in houses full of food. I saw at least 50 cans of Hormel Chili, 12 tubes of toothpaste etc…So how might one household eat that much food before it expires? Have you thought about that question or are you going to open up a food pantry. In my opinion it would only make sense to give to people who can use it.

I think the real question here is why all of sudden the mad craze to save on food, yeah its pricey and it comes with bad economy but really are you saving that much money that you can afford to have that much food on hand? Sooner or later, it will waste away because of the expiration dates.

The most bothersome thing about this topic is that when I am at the grocery store with my list and I reach for an item that isn’t there because I know some extreme couponer cleared the shelf before I got there. Well lo and behold the grocery stores are on to you people because now they are limiting how much we can buy and now limiting how many coupons can be used in a single checkout.

I just have to say “Thanks” for screwing the system, because I rely on my coupons for savings and for you extremists who think nothing of the rest of the us we get limited because of you.

Special Visitor

On Friday afternoon around 3:15 it started thundering and I thought well this was no big deal and I can handle it. Mind you I don’t like storms especially when the thunder is real loud and lightning. I was keeping myself busy folding laundry and cleaning the bedroom. Then the storm really started getting intense and I felt the need to find a place somewhere in my home that I could feel safe away from windows. This was no ordinary thunderstorm this was an electrical storm. I grabbed my soda, cellphone and a cigarette and found my dark spot on the floor between the dining room and the bathroom. I closed the door to the dining room and opened the door to the bathroom. I just sat there in the dark listening to the electricity run through the sky and bang with the thunder.

I was extremely scared and I could feel the anxiety building. Well all of sudden the door to the bathroom started to close and there he was standing right in front of me was my boy Kudah. I could only see his eyes but that’s okay. He came to let me know that I was okay and he was there with me keeping me safe.

I wasn’t scared anymore and I really felt at peace.

Kudah was always there when we had these awful scary storms and we use to sit together and I would talk with him.

I am just so happy he came to visit even if it was just for a short while.

Weird Things People Do

I have noticed lately that people do such weird things.

My husband and I were sitting out front Monroe Muffler on their bench just waiting for the service man to finish up the emission test for the truck. So we are sitting there utilizing time well spent, trying finish up the grocery list and chatting about the rest of our day. So we both noticed….

A car stops at the red light and then a man gets out of the car, stands up and stretches, then reaches back in and takes out his car mats and starts shaking them. He gets back in his car just in time to stall his car for the green light. This is was time well spent and the man had just enough time to do all of this before the green light. We watched all of this while sitting on the bench at Monroe Muffler. It was a great laugh!

There was this man who appeared to be pissed off about the quote he received at Monroe Muffler. He kept walking in and out of the front door and saying “I don’t have the money for this, this is ridiculous” but he is looking at us every time he walks in and out the front door. He did this exercise 3 repeated times. The last time I could help but notice he stuck his hand down the back of his pants to itch or do something but the disturbing part about this is he did this in public and he didn’t seem to care. Gross!

There was a man in the Target parking lot this past week who washed his hands in a rain puddle and then dried his hands on his shorts. I really wanted to tell him that we had working bathrooms and it was okay for him to wash his hands.

My surreal dream

The first week of July was such an awful week for my husband and I. We had to put Kudah down after 11 years of awesome companionship. He was very sick and was dying of cancer. He truly was the best child with paws and he is very dearly missed.

Saturday July 9, I remember going to bed early and laying there crying my eyes out and eventually falling asleep. I remember dreaming because it was surreal. I dreamt that Kudah was right before my eyes looking at me and he was kissing me and licking my face and I could feel his whiskers on my face and the softness of his fur. It appeared the dream only lasted a few minutes but I swear I could feel and see him and I know he was there. Just like when I shared my pillow with him every night he would kiss me good night. I remember being happy to see him but I don’t remember what I said to him and then I woke up suddenly bawling my eyes out. I wish I didn’t wake so soon because I would love to go back to the dream.

I remember my husband saying “What did you dream about?” I said, “Kudah was here with me in my dream and it was real”!

Dogs in Hot Cars

The warm weather has arrived and I know some people like taking their dogs out for a ride on a warm day and leave them in the car with the window cracked while you go shopping. This is Huge “No No”! Please leave your pet at home!

Do you know it just takes a minute on a 78-degree day, the temperature inside a parked car can soar to between 100  to 120 degrees in just minutes, and on a 90-degree day, the interior temperature can reach as high as 160 degrees in less than 10 minutes. 

Your pet can suffer brain damage or a heat stroke and die within 15 minutes or less.

Leaving a dog in a parked car with the windows cracked is a death trap for a dog because they overheat, sweat, excessive thirst, pant heavily, etc. Here is more information at this link http://www.peta.org/issues/companion-animals/dog-hot-car.aspx

Children with paws don’t deserve to die because the pet parent is stupid and cruel.

I take this matter very seriously and when I am out and about do shopping I am always on the look out for animals left in cars. I do not hesitate to call the police and report this very serious crime and yes this is a “Crime”. Pet owners can be charged with cruelty and receive a hefty fine.  The police will come without hesitating because they take it very seriously too. In the event you do make a call to the police, you have to stay on the scene until the matter has been resolved.

We all need to take action to protect the animals, so please do your part in helping to protect and prevent dogs being left in hot cars. Be pro active make the call if you need to and save a life! Last Summer’s Yard Sale

Would you believe me when I say there were children sitting in the back seat of this Jeep? There were 2 children in the back seat. This jeep was stuffed to the max and on the driver’s passenger side there was stuff coming out the window too! I have had a lot of yard sales but never in my life have I ever seen anything like this before.

These people were serious yard sale buyers!

My husband Doug, My good friend Roy and myself had a laugh when they showed up and even a bigger laugh after they left because they purchased carnival stuffed animals and it was funny to see them stuff them in their already stuffed to the max truck.

This was the last yard sale for the summer and we had a great day at Roy’s house.

My Pet Peeves

What is a pet peeve? is a minor annoyance that a person identifies as particularly annoying to him or her, to a greater degree than others may find it. Defined by Wikipedia..

Here is my top 10 list of pet peeves:

1. The little tag sticking out of one’s shirt
2. Wearing a hat at the dinner table (home or restaurant)
3. Ending a sentence with “Just Saying“
4. Parents who can’t take their screaming child out to the car but instead let them have a screaming fit inside a store.
5. Parents let children stand up in shopping carts
6. Press “2″ for English
7. People who wear pajamas to a store, same goes for slippers
8. Asking for ketchup to go with my fries
9. Drivers who don’t use turn signals
10. Cell phone users having a loud conversation in a store~like everyone needs to hear their life story. Who cares!

I didn’t realize I had so many pet peeves and my list could keep going…

Why do the little things annoy so many of us? Because we have no control over controlling what other people do. If we did then we would have a perfect world and since we do not I guess we should live with it or look the other way.
